Overview
In today’s media climate, disinformation and misinformation have become rampant. In this online noncredit course, you’ll consider current case studies of disinformation and the spreading of misinformation, as well as the regulations meant to weaken their influence. You’ll learn about technology that's tracking disinformation and propose ways to improve these mechanisms.
What You’ll Do
- Identify the methods, platforms and amplifiers that are being used to spread digital propaganda and fake news
- Learn about laws around the world that have been passed or are being developed to address the use of digital propaganda across social media and the internet
- Analyze case studies of disinformation and the spreading of misinformation and the regulations meant to weaken their influence
- Develop your own proposal to improve mechanisms that track disinformation

Format and Schedule
This is an online course. The suggested duration is five or 10 weeks. It includes 20 hours of synchronous instruction and 10 hours of asynchronous learning. Live class sessions meet weekdays, one or two days per week.
This course can also be offered as an in-person, F-1 visa eligible classroom experience if you'd like.
